Job Description

The Communications department at Enel North America manages all internal and external communications activities for the company in the US and Canada, including branding, corporate events, digital communications, internal communications, media and public relations.

The Media and Public Relations Senior Specialist is based in the North American headquarters, in Andover, MA, or in the Central US region including Oklahoma, Texas or Kansas, and reports directly to the Director of Media and Public Relations for North America.

This position supports all of the local media and public relations activities in North America, with significant focus on the U.S. Central region, and works in coordination with the Director of Media and Public Relations to enhance and protect the company’s reputation on all media channels. The Media and Public Relations Senior Specialist will coordinate with local representatives of the Regulatory and Institutional Affairs Department and the Sustainability Department to execute on the local media and PR strategy for the company. Significant travel is required.

  • Support the development and execution of a local media strategy and plan for key markets in North America, in close coordination with Director of Media and Public Relations and other supporting departments including Regulatory and Institutional Affairs, and Sustainability. The plan will build positive brand awareness of the company at the local level, while protecting the company’s reputation on all media, including but not limited to print, online and social media and broadcast (television and radio).
  • Support the development of a company messaging platform and messaging across key local markets for the business. Oversee and maintain the updates to these messages.
  • Serve as the day-to-day media contact in local markets establishing, enhancing and maintaining ongoing relationships with local key media outlets and journalists. Activities may include organizing meetings with targeted journalists, scheduling and participating in editorial board meetings, and hosting media site tours at power plants.
  • Support the development of content and collateral materials including written content development and imagery, in close collaboration with the rest of the North American Communications team.
  • Support media training activities for identified spokespeople in local markets.
  • Engage and coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders, serving as the primary communications contact for local activities.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of related experience.
  • Able to travel up to 50%
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field of study; Master degree a plus.
  • Background in media relations including direct experience with managing media trainings, story placement, media outreach and media interviews.
  • Prior in experience in the energy sector strongly preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, including strong capabilities with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills with storytelling ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively work with multi-disciplinary project teams and within a multinational company.
  • Creative independent thinker; demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team.
